Best Dedicated Hosting CompaniesIn need of service, sir/madame? This way for the best dedicated hosting companies.

Because the standard plans just aren't quite cutting the mustard for you, of course...

And you've come to the right place.

Inside of our tailored and truly dedicated list, you’ll find only the top of the top services 🤵 Except guns. No guns permitted inside.

If that doesn't sound like you, I've made a terrible mistake (awkward), you’re better off looking for regular, mere mortal hosting. No worries. So, first, check out the best web hosting providers. Feel free to come back this way once you rank at least 50,000 unique monthly visitors. 🤵

Who Needs a Dedicated Server Hosting?

Selecting the right hosting plan is one of the most important decisions you will make for your website, at least from a technical standpoint.

Choosing the wrong option will leave your site unequipped to deal with a large number of visitors and may lead to poor user experience for your visitors.

To put it simply, you'd be shooting yourself in the foot. (Mr Wick, I’m looking at you 👀.)

For those of you that aren't aware, a dedicated hosting service will provide you access to a totally exclusive server that is only available to your website.

Other plans that people typically use involve servers that are shared with many, many other sites ಠ_ಠ. All of them clogging up the same space and potentially reducing loading speeds.

Can’t have that, not at all. Here are a few benefits you can expect to find with a dedicated server facility:

  • ☑️ Speed Increases
  • ☑️ Better Security
  • ☑️ More Storage
  • ☑️ Control of your own server

Glorious. But anyway, more on that later. Let's get into the eight best dedicated server hosting providers.

SiteGround Dedicated Server Review 📗

Alright, so now we are into the realms of traditional dedicated server hosting. As seen in our SiteGround review, it does a great job on most fronts.

They can, however, seem a bit pricey when compared to other providers. Let's see if they make up for it.

Data Centre Choice 💿

It's not quite the 20 centres that we could choose from with Kinsta, but still, three isn't too bad. You have the choice of United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

Stellar Support 📞

SiteGround has one of the best customer support around. In an industry that isn't particularly revered for its customer service, they outshine the competition.

If you ever have an issue, which you probably won't due to their fantastic uptime, the team will be right there to help you.

Impressive Uptime 🟢

Uptime is how often your site is online and not subject to any issues that prevent visitors from accessing your site.

It's pretty important, to say the least. SiteGround has some of the best around at 99%+. That’s code-word for having a reliable site.

Pricing 🏷️

  • ☑️ Jump Start - £60 / Month
  • ☑️ Business - £120 / Month
  • ☑️ Business Plus - £180 / Month
  • ☑️ Super Power -  £240 / Month

#2 Kinsta - A Dedicated Server, That Isn't a Dedicated Server

Super fast, cheap and secure — running on Google Cloud (£28.50/Month) ☁️
Key Specifications:
  • Cloud base
  • Frequent backups
  • 20 data centre locations
  • Great security
  • Free SSL certificate and CDN
PROS
  • Cheap pricing
  • Good customer support
  • Can choose from a range of options based on how many monthly visitors you receive
CONS
  • Technically not a dedicated server
  • SSD storage not great
  • Only 1 WordPress install for the cheapest option

Kinsta Dedicated Server Review 📚

Right off the bat, Kinsta is a slightly different solution to the rest in this category as its entire infrastructure is built upon something called Google Cloud.

This is actually different to any quality VPS hosting, or even dedicated/standard options. So why did we include it as number 1? Because we can.. just kidding.

Every site that is run via Kinsta is 100% private as is not shared with other sites. Not even between your own websites I might add. That's pretty cool.

Without going into too much detail, it provides the same end result as a dedicated server would and possibly even better.

Here's an infographic from their own website if you're like us and want some further tech details under the hood.

Kinsta Network

Anyway, enough with the science. What does it give me?

Choice of Data Centre 💽

They give you the option to choose from 20 different data centres. If you have more than one site with them, then you can pick multiple centres if you like, whatever floats your boat.

For all you Brits, you'll be glad to learn that one of those data centers is in London. Absolutely stellar, chaps and chappettes.

100 % Private hosting provided by Google Cloud Platform 📡

This is somewhat unique in the space. You'll see a marked improvement in site speed, and you don't have to worry about every Tom, Dick and Harry clogging up your server space.

Top-Notch Security 🔑

I think Kinsta may have some sort of trust issues because they are always checking up on their sites every two minutes. No, seriously, they actually do that.

They check for intruders, hacks, whether your site is up and running or not, and just general other safety things that make you feel nice and secure.

They are like that one overprotective friend that's got your back 100%. A very...dedicated friend, one could say.

#3 A2 Hosting - Impressive Performance

Speedy Servers — with Reasonable Prices (£84.84/Month) 📜
Key Specifications
  • Bandwidth - 10 - 20TB
  • RAM - 8 - 16GB
  • Disk Space - 2x500 - 2x1000 GB
PROS
  • Two dedicated IP Addresses
  • Cloudflare CDN free
  • Free SSL certificate
CONS
  • No UK servers
  • No free backups

A2 Hosting Dedicated Server Review 📕

When reviewing A2 Hosting, we found that it is a quality dedicated hosting provider that has both great uptimes and customer service, but with a slightly better price than SiteGround.

They've been around for almost 20 years. Often highly reviewed across all boards, they are a great all-around choice for anybody looking for a cheap dedicated server UK.

Customer Service 📱

If for some reason you run into issues, and your site is down, the service team are right on hand to solve your issues, pretty much right away.

99.1% Uptime🟢

This is actually not as good as SiteGround, but still pretty good. However, if site uptime is really important to you, then that 0.4% over the course of a year can make a considerable difference.

Pricing 🛒

  • ☑️ Unmanaged Dedicated Server - from £84.84 / Month
  • ☑️ Managed Dedicated Server- from £124.86 / Month

Hostgator Dedicated Server Review 📘

You've almost certainly heard of HostGator before. They've been knocking around for quite some time now and have racked up quite the reputation.

If you're looking for an established brand with a great product, then here you are. They are very hands-on with customer service and will go the extra mile to make sure you get all the help you need getting started.

HDD and SSD

You have the option of both HDD and SSD hard drive options, so you can consider what is best for your own website and pick accordingly. SSD is typically faster than HDD.

Bluehost Dedicated Server Review 📙

Another stalwart of the hosting industry, Bluehost have been on the block since 2003, which is an absolute age in this space. These guys are arguably one of the most popular hosting providers due to their extensive marketing campaigns and low prices.

It also helps that they are officially partnered and recommended by Wordpress.

But are they the best WordPress hosting site out there?

Free Back-Ups 👍

Bluehost consistently backup your data in the background without you even realising. If the worst ever does happen, no worries.

Lose access to your site, get hacked, or use WordPress after you had one too many shandies—it’s fine. You will most likely be able to restore it from one of these backups.

Free Website Domain 🌐

Bluehost is one of the most popular domain registrars too. They will give you a free domain name for one year if you select any of their hosting plans.

30 - Day Money Back Guarantee 📈

A nice touch to give you a bit of confidence when purchasing. These plans aren't cheap, so if you don't like the service, you could be a miserable customer for a while.

With Bluehost, you can give it a try for 30 days, and if it's not for you, then you can go your separate ways. No hard feelings.

Bluehost Pricing🔖

  • ☑️ Standard - £59.64 / Month
  • ☑️ Enhanced - £74.55 / Month
  • ☑️ Premium - £89.46 / Month

Overall, if you decide to go with Bluehost, you aren't losing anything but there might be a better hosting service for your specific needs.

#6 InMotion - Plenty of Power

What's Better Than 1 CPU — How About 16? (£112.05/Month) 📋
Key Specifications:
  • Bandwidth - 6 - 15TB
  • RAM - 8 - 64GB
  • Disk Space - 500Gb - 3x1 TB
PROS
  • Six pricing options to choose from
  • Free SSD
  • 16 CPU option on the top plan
  • Free SSL
CONS
  • Not the cheapest
  • Limited data transfers
  • Customer support can be lacking
  • Only US servers

InMotion Dedicated Server Review 📖

InMotion give you plenty of options when choosing your dedicated server plan. It can be a little confusing or overwhelming if you're not 100% clued up on the technical jargon.

If that's the case, there is a helpful chat to guide you through it. Also get the option for 16 CPUs, which is great for those with huge sites. We discuss some other plans too in our InMotion Hosting review.

However, let's look at the other features:

30 Day Guarantee💸

Similar to Bluehost, they give you the option to try the service out for 30 days and then switch if it's not for you.

1-1 Sysadmin Time📜

This is the fancy wording they give for one on one set up. A customer service expert will sit with you through installation and help you get yourself set up correctly.

Pretty helpful for those of you that aren't quite sure what they need. After all, not everyone is a tech whizz!

The Option of 16 CPUs 💽

Inmotion offers the most robust set up you can get, for a price of course. But this could benefit you if you have a large site and you need the firepower.

Access more speeds to process all your visitors—particularly useful if you have a very media-rich, high-traffic or capable website.

Pricing 💹

  • ☑️ Essential - £112.05 / Month
  • ☑️ Advanced - £152.07 / Month
  • ☑️ Elite - £208.10 / Month
  • ☑️ CC 1000 - £352.17 / Month
  • ☑️ CC 2000 - £432.21 / Month

Master of… some things (£99.99/Month) 📖
Key Specifications:
  • Bandwidth - Unmetered
  • RAM - 32GB - 256GB
  • Disk Space - 2x4TB - 2x8TB
PROS
  • 24/7 technical support
  • Linux or Windows build options
  • Free SSL
CONS
  • Could be better value
  • You have to pay extra for SSD

GoDaddy Dedicated Server Review 📒

Last but not least, we have GoDaddy. Another top-rated service that offers a wide range of features.

They boast over 18 million clients and 78 million domain names in this space, pretty impressive stuff.

All In One Solution 💪🏽

People like shopping at Tesco and Asda nowadays because you can get literally buy everything there.

Groceries, microwaves, TV's, video games and you can even get some petrol on the way home. This is kind of what GoDaddy is like. They have got pretty much everything you need.

Setup your domain registration, email and web security options. They’re even amongst our list of the best website builders for UK businesses.

HDD and SSD Options 🖥️

SSD is generally considered to be much faster than HDD option. GoDaddy themselves quote it to be up to 25x faster.

So if speed is your main concern, then it may be worth forking out the extra dough for the SSD. It's around £20 extra per month on each option.

Unmetered Bandwidth ♾️

One of the few in our list that included unmetered bandwidth. They won't monitor or limit your bandwidth usage and therefore will not shut you down if you end up going over your quota.

Pricing 🏬

  • ☑️ DS-32 - £99.99 / Month
  • ☑️ DS-64 - £139.99 / Month
  • ☑️ DS-128 - £249.99 / Month
  • ☑️ DS-256 - £329.99 / Month

Buying Guide

So that was our list of the eight best dedicated server hosting companies in the UK. Each of them has its own pros and cons that we have detailed for you.

If you are still unsure, then we have a helpful buying guide for you—to highlight the things you need to consider before making your final decision.

Memory 💾

As you would expect, the more memory, the better. This is measured in RAM, short for Random Access Memory.

High quantities of RAM will see your site speed increase and reduce load times on your web pages, enhancing the user experience.

Server Locations 📍

The further away the server is, the further the data has to travel, ipso facto, your site won't be as fast. This isn't usually the biggest of deals.

The majority of the big companies in this list all have giant servers that more than make up for the distance the data has to travel.

As we mentioned in our review, Kinsta has a data centre in London if you prefer to keep it all local.

Customer Service 📞

Customer Support

The best bet is to look for a provider that has excellent customer support. There are a couple in our list that offer special one on one services.

They’ll guide you through installation and set you on the right track. After that, you should ideally be able to set it and forget it. It goes without saying that customer service is paramount.

Nothing worse than having an issue that needs solving urgently, only to find out that there are no live telephone numbers.

Having to resort to submitting a support ticket that will be answered in a few days is quite infuriating! Completely uncivilized. Look for a provider with a reputable, well-reviewed customer service department.

Most of the options in this list are at least decent and have 24/7 live support, so you should be safe there.

Bandwidth Size ♾️

This is simply the data that is transferred between your website and the data centre. The more the demand on your site, the more bandwidth you will need.

If you have a media-rich site with lots of HD photos and videos, then you will want to opt for higher bandwidth than the standard.

Dedicated Server Hosting: FAQs

Technical Terminology

There’s a certain unavoidable number of terms needed to explain complicated technological processes.

While it's not really necessary for you to understand the ins and outs of these things, it's nice to get a general feel for it.

Below we have given some definitions to some of the main buzzwords throwing about when discussing web hosting services.

CPU Cores 🧠

The CPU cores can be thought of as the brains behind the server that your site is hosted on. As with most of these things, the more of it, the better.

Two brains are better than one, as they say. These CPU brains run the show and provide all of the processing power for the information that goes through the server.

If you don't have enough processing power and a lot of demand, your site will hit a bottleneck. That's when users might begin to see error screens instead of your web page. Try to avoid that.

RAM 🏃‍♂️

Rack Servers

RAM stands for Random Access Memory, which I mentioned earlier. But did I say it’s also a fantastic comeback album from Daft Punk, back in 2013?

It's also the primary store of memory for the server that your site is located on. And you'll never guess what? The more of it you have, the better.

Bandwidth ♾️

This is how much data can be handled between your site and server. In other words, how much it can put up with before it crashes.

If you don't have enough bandwidth, then your site will become unresponsive, or it may even totally stop working. Not ideal.

Higher amounts will also give you a much faster loading speed. Yeah, you guessed it—the more bandwidth...the better.

Server Locations 💽

Where exactly is this giant data centre where your website is being hosted from?
If it's too far away from your main user base, then it will take that information longer to reach the server and then come back.

This isn't usually the most significant issue, so don't think of it as a total deal breaker if the only server is in the USA. They are pretty good, and that amount of distance isn't a problem.

If the server is based somewhere like New Zealand, then you may want to reconsider your options.

Uptime 🟢

The amount of time that the website remains up and running and isn't subject to outages. This is one of the critical areas to consider for most website businesses.

If you are selling a service or have an e-commerce store, people won't be able to buy from you if they can't even access the page.

Any drop in uptime will cost you money, so try and look for providers that have at least 99%+ uptimes.

Grand Conclusion

Thank you for visiting our guide, sir/madame. It seems we’ve just about covered everything you need to know, with the following exceptions ➡

Just be sure to carefully consider what your needs are before pulling the trigger and signing up for a dedicated server. They aren't exactly cheap.

But if your website is of significant size and is pulling 50,000+ unique monthly visitors, then you may just benefit from having your own server.

As always, think about what you want from your provider. If you’re looking for a cheap option that will still provide a great service, then go with someone like A2 or Bluehost.

For those on a budget:

We recommend looking for some great free (or cheap) hosting options first; you might find yourself a bargain.

For shopper convenience:

All in one providers like GoDaddy can be a lifesaver, as long as you are willing to pay a small premium for it.

For the cloud:

Lastly, if you’re open to trying the cloud service options then have a serious look at Kinsta. They are much cheaper, offer great security and high speeds.

They pretty much tick every single box. The only issues arise when some serious scaling is required, which I doubt will be an option for the vast majority of you.

Thank you for choosing us to spend your time with. And best of luck with your new purchase! Will that be all?
